Our portfolio company, the Salzburg-based startup Sproof.io, which specializes in digital signatures, will now cooperate with an international player in the field of DMS. Kyocera is a globally active provider of information and document management. Now the Japanese corporation works with sproof to provide easy and secure digital signatures via their DMS solution.

Sproof is now integrated into Kyocera Workflow Manager

With its integration into the DMS solution “Kyocera Workflow Manager”, customers will be able to use a secure and legally valid signature function for any type of digital document immediately.

“Sproof is the perfect match to our DMS portfolio,” says Ralph Rotmann, Business Development Manager DMS/ECM at Kyocera Document Solutions. “Sproof is simple, secure, intuitive to use and integrates perfectly with our Kyocera Workflow Manager to trigger a signature process directly from the document management system.”

The Austrian University spin-off sproof is also excited about the new collaboration. “It is a special honor that an absolute leader in DMS solutions like Kyocera relies on sproof,” says Clemens Brunner, co-founder and CEO.

sproof was founded in Salzburg in 2019 and offers a DSGVO and eiDAS compliant platform for signing digital documents. The young company has already been able to win international players, such as Sony, as a client. Its all-in-one solution and directly integrated interfaces for issuing is convincing even in this highly competitive market.

Legal validity and data protection in the foreground

The eIDAS Regulation regulates the requirements for digital signatures within the EU. This also defines the legal status of the different types of digital signatures.

“Basically, there are different ways to sign digitally: simple, advanced and qualified. Despite the superficially identical appearance of digital signatures on the final document, the status of the respective type of digital signature and its binding nature are different,” Fabian Knirsch, co-founder and CTO of sproof, explains. Only the so-called “Qualified Electronic Signatures” (QES) are legally equivalent to handwritten signatures.

Data security also plays an important role. In terms of data protection, on the one hand, the legal requirements of the GDPR must be met. On the other hand, IT infrastructure must ensure a high level of security.

Digitalisation made in Europe

“All data centers where sproof processes documents are exclusively located within the European Union,” concludes Knirsch. “We do not store any information on servers in third countries, such as the USA. This this would not be GDPR-compliant.”
