We are proud to share that the European Super Angels Club (ESAC) has participated in the €62 million Series A financing round of Q.ANT – a cutting-edge German deep tech company redefining what’s possible in AI and high-performance computing (HPC).
The round was co-led by Cherry Ventures, UVC Partners, and imec.xpand. Additional investors include L-Bank, Verve Ventures, Grazia Equity, LEA Partners, Onsight Ventures and TRUMPF, and the EXF Alpha Fund – the official syndication vehicle of ESAC.
Accelerating the Future with Photonic Processing
Q.ANT is pioneering a new generation of photonic processors – technology that replaces electrons with light to process data. This breakthrough enables higher performance, greater energy efficiency, and unprecedented scalability, especially for compute-intensive applications such as AI and HPC. Their innovation challenges the limits of traditional CMOS-based chips and introduces a fundamentally new computing architecture.
In just five years, Q.ANT has achieved what experts have pursued for decades: the world’s first commercial photonic processor built specifically for real-world AI and HPC workloads. Their Native Processing Server, built on Thin-Film Lithium Niobate (TFLN), integrates seamlessly into existing data center infrastructure as a plug-in co-processor. Early tests demonstrate up to 30 times greater energy efficiency, 50 times faster performance, and the potential to boost data center capacity by 100 times – all without relying on complex active cooling systems. Q.ANT is the first company in the industry to combine this level of performance, precision, and integration into one scalable and sustainable solution.
“We believe that Q.ANT is building one of the most promising deep tech platforms in Europe,” said a spokesperson for the European Super Angels Club. “Their technology aligns perfectly with our mission to support high-impact innovation with global relevance.”
Q.ANT Series A: Investing in Long-Term Impact
This investment underscores ESAC’s ongoing commitment to backing visionary founders who address the world’s most urgent technological challenges. As AI becomes increasingly central to global infrastructure, the need for sustainable, energy-conscious solutions is more critical than ever.
“We are excited to support Dr. Michael Förtsch and his talented team,” the spokesperson added. “Q.ANT’s work will help make scalable, energy-efficient computing a foundation of future AI infrastructure.”
A Strong Match for the ESAC Vision
At the European Super Angels Club, we seek out ventures that combine technical excellence with long-term societal value. Q.ANT exemplifies both. Their work not only pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in computing—it also supports a more sustainable digital future for Europe and the world.
