Shark Island, part of the Austrian Venture Week, organized by Pascal Haider, connected Austrian startups with local and international investors, along with experts from the region. Among the standout moments of this prestigious event was the success of Blockpit, represented by CEO and Co-Founder Florian Wimmer, who proudly won the coveted “Golden Shark Award” during the Shark Island pitch competition.

The Shark Island event brought together over 400 leading global investors, local leaders, and international entrepreneurs. It provided startups with an excellent platform to engage directly with key decision-makers. Moreover, the highlight of the event was an exciting pitch competition featuring 24 promising startups. They competed for a prize pool of approximately €100,000, in addition to a contract worth more than €250,000.

The competition featured an interactive voting system, where each attendee received three gold coins. They could allocate these coins to the startups they believed had the most potential. This participatory system made the event more engaging and gave participants a tangible stake in the future of these emerging businesses.

Blockpit’s CEO, Florian Wimmer, emerged as the ultimate winner of the Shark Island pitch competition. He secured the “Golden Shark Award” by winning a large share of the audience’s gold coins, amassing more than half a kilogram of symbolic currency.

This impressive victory not only highlighted the strong investor confidence in Blockpit’s potential but also earned the company a variety of exciting rewards. These included €100,000 in prizes, two VIP tickets to a Formula 1 race in Abu Dhabi, and exclusive access to an ATP tennis tournament in collaboration with Waterdrop.

Blockpit’s triumph also generated significant interest from investors, which undoubtedly strengthens its position as a leader in the tax compliance and cryptocurrency sector.
