In a groundbreaking event held on July 13, Unmanned Life, a portfolio company of the European Super Angels Club (ESAC), unveiled their latest product, U-Security. The launch took place in the vibrant tech hub of Barcelona. Industry leaders and notable representatives from Telefonica, TELUS, AWS, and GSMA gathered to witness the transformative potential of autonomous technology in the security industry. Unmanned Life’s U-Security undeniably represents a significant leap forward in the realm of autonomous drone surveillance. With cutting-edge features such as swarm functionality, AI detection, and network interoperability, this end-to-end product offers seamless management of drone teams without disrupting existing processes. With this in mind U-Security’s hardware-agnostic approach allows for the integration of state-of-the-art sensors and imaging technology, delivering real-time monitoring and exceptional accuracy across various industries.
The launch event witnessed a remarkable live demonstration, with an autonomous mission remotely initiated by Unmanned Life’s Co-Founder and VP, Jorge Munoz. The drone, equipped with advanced capabilities, showcased thermal imaging, gimbal camera control, snapshots, zoom, and safe landing and charging on the docking station. Thanks to Unmanned Life’s unique network approach, the drone operated autonomously over the mobile network, providing viewers at the event with a high-quality real-time video stream.

Miguel Angel Vilarino from AWS furthermore highlighted the scalability of missions through edge computing and AWS’s role in pioneering this alongside Telenet in the Port of Antwerp.

Marc Beltran, CEO and Co-Founder of EU Drone Port, emphasized the importance of effectively navigating regulatory frameworks and the role of permits and certifications. Faisal Zia, Technical Director of GSMA, shared insights into the Open Gateways initiative and the impact of shared APIs in the drone security space.
