The European Super Angels Club closed its fifth pan-European Invest and Connect series. Read here a short summary with pictures about our finals.
We scouted outstanding AI investment opportunities throughout Europe. Five companies were finally selected to pitch at our big finals in Vienna and we are now inviting friends and partners to co-invest with us in these fantastic companies.

Alphametry

Alphametry is a cloud-based and data-driven research management solution. The tool helps asset managers to leverage internal and external knowledge, optimised their research spending, and easily audit their active investment process.

Highlights

Growing Market. Research is the second biggest cost centre after salaries according to a survey conducted by Alphametry. Many wealth management companies launched initiatives to reduce costs.
Buyside Network. Alphametry has 8OO+ registered users from the investment management industry.
The rollout started in January 2019. The first client is DNCA Investments with 39 users consisting of portfolio managers, research analysts, research manager and compliance officers.

Team

Fabrice Bouland, Co-Founder & CEO. Founder of Brokerhub.net (derivates marketplace) and OTCex (inter-dealer brokerage). He worked as a derivatives trader for BNP Paribas. Bachelor of Finance from ESG Management School Paris.
Manu Iyengar, Co-founder & Research/Development. Co-Founder of Deloitte Digital as well as Co-founder of IDTect (industrial machinery monitoring and diagnostics platform). MBA from INSEAD.
Camille Troillard, Co-Founder & Data Engineering. Founder of Odaiko (Content Management System) as well as OSCulator. He studied at the Institut français de Mécanique avancée (engineering school).

Casta Spes

CST makes property safer through autonomous security. Their robotic surveillance vehicle effectively monitors and patrols large perimeters 24-7, carrying a variety of sensors and AI-driven plugins.

Highlights

Market. There are around 2000 warehouse depots across the UK with about 185.000 commercial properties. The manned guarding market in the UK was worth £5 bn in 2015. Globally, the perimeter security market size will be worth $197Bn by 2022.
Edinburgh Airport and North British Distillery will be some of the first security partners to deploy the CST system. Industry partners include AXIS Cameras, Pelco (Schneider Electric) and Norbain (Distributor).
CST offers attractive top-line profitability: 83% gross profit margin on rentals (Y2) and 90% on the purchase, £33.6k minimum revenue per site and breakeven with 46 sites (138 units) on a £1.1M annual operating cost.

Michael McDonald, Co-Founder & CTO. Experienced electrical and mechanical engineer within the automotive sector (Jaguar Land Rover); co-founding Helping Cups with Selby.
Nathan Clarke, Operations Manager. Experienced military intelligence and security specialist, with operational experience across the banking sector.
Andrew Fulton, Chairmen. Experienced diplomatic (30+ years), President of Anglo-American business council, NXD and Chair for high profile security companies.

Legartis

The SaaS-solution of Legartis enables companies to identify, classify and understand contracts within seconds and to pull up-to-date data at any time. It brings convenience and efficiency into legal document analysis and management.

Smartlane

Smartlane Transport Intelligence is a cloud-based software that revolutionises planning processes and strategic decisions in transport logistics. As a scenario-based transport optimisation and analytics engine, it enables fully-automated transport planning as well as industry-specific process mining capabilities.

Highlights

Smartlane enables fast and efficient planning of multiple delivery stops, managing up to 50.000 stops in just 20 to 50 minutes.
The founders combine 24 years of experience in mobility and logistics data science.
The MRR to date is between €21-25k from 25 customers. Additionally, they launched several successful paid pilots with big forwarders and logistics suppliers.

Dr Mathias Baur, Co-Founder & Managing Director. He has significant experience in the area of data-driven process optimisation and takes care of the product development.
Florian Schimandl, Co-Founder & Managing Director. PhD candidate at TU Munich. His scientific work is about reference architecture and data quality analysis. He is mainly responsible for Sales.
Monja Mühling. Co-Founder. Masters Degree in Technology Management from the University of Munich. She is in charge of Business Development and Finance.

XUND

XUND, an AI-powered mobile health assistant, reduces existing barriers between doctors and patients through a self-learning system that provides patients with reliable and straightforward information about their symptoms and health.

Highlights

The three founders know each other for 20 years and have been working together on the XUND project since 2017. They invested 100k of their own money so far.
R&D cooperation with TU Wien to build an AI-based text mining solution for the automated extraction of entries from millions of medical publications.
Digital Health Market is one of the most dynamically growing markets in the world that is set to exceed USD 379 billion by 2024 (CAGR of over 20% since 2013).

Tamas Petrovics, Operations, Finance, Development. 5+ years of international work experience as a management consultant and most recently JEM at McKinsey.
Lukas Seper, Data Security, Public Relations, Fundraising. 7+ years of international work experience as a political consultant both in Austria and Russia. He also founded several companies.
Dr. Zoltan Tarabo. Medical. 25+ years of medical experience in Hungary, Germany and Austria as an anaesthetist and emergency doctor.
The founders get support from a development subsidiary in Budapest and a team of 6 part-time doctors.
